In 2007 The Metropolitan Police Service invited our founder Paul Jessup to design the first Official Metropolitan Police Teddy Bear in support of the charity Child Victims of Crime. Bobby Bear was launched at Hamleys on 26th October 2007 and enjoyed record-breaking sales, raising over £30,000 for the Metropolitan Police Charity; Child Victims of Crime. Bobby Bear went on to accompany the England Rugby team as mascot in the World Cup final and was presented to the Prime Minister Gordon Brown at No.10 Downing Street in 2008. As a result of the publicity we received from Bobby’s launch we began delivering thousands of Great British Teddy Bears to children all over the world every day.
These iconic characters were touching the hearts of their lucky recipients and it was clear that our brand was going to do very well. So we took this opportunity to share our success with the children who don’t have someone to hug and have set up successful partnerships with Care Of Police Survivors, The Girl Child Education Fund and most recently The Poppy Factory. If we can make our bears better we do and if we can help change someone’s life every time we make a bear we will.
